Camera is not detected

The camera does not show up, or the preview stays blank? One step at a time:

First: is this body supported at all?

BoothDock supports 154 system cameras by name – Nikon, Canon and Sony. If yours is not among them, the setup is not the problem. Full list: boothdock.eu/cameras. Fujifilm, Panasonic, Olympus and Pentax are not supported today.

Webcam

  • Check cable and USB port, ideally straight into the PC (not through a cheap hub).
  • Is the camera open in another app (Teams, Zoom)? Only one app may use it – close the other.
  • Just plugged in and not in the list? The camera area handles hotplug automatically; if it does not appear for once, reopen the camera area briefly.

System camera (DSLR/mirrorless)

  • Camera switched on, battery charged, USB connection mode correct (PC/PTP, not "charge only").
  • No second piece of software on the same camera. Only one program may hold it – Canon's EOS Utility, Nikon's NX Tether, Sony's Imaging Edge or another photo booth application must be closed.
  • Wait a few seconds after plugging in – detection runs in the background.
  • Leave the memory card in the body. Some cameras refuse to shoot without one.
  • If the camera is stuck and does not appear even after restarting the app, only switching the camera off and on again helps. It reappears within seconds.

Live view missing, stills work

On some bodies this is not a fault but the camera: ten older Nikon models (D40 to D200, Coolpix L830/L840) cannot deliver live view over the cable. Shutter and image transfer still work.

Video will not start

Four Sony bodies do not hand video out over USB – ZV-1, ZV-E10, RX100 VII and α7R IV A. There the booth records the live view feed; stills and GIFs work normally. With Nikon, 44 of the 61 bodies can record video; on the rest the camera does not offer the path.

Folder watching

  • Folder permission in the browser may have been reset → "Renew access".
  • Is the external tethering software really writing into the same folder?

Still nothing

Restart the app once. If it persists, support gets there fastest with a log bundle (Hub → Boxes → request logs).
